Martin Lamb
Opera Singer
Writer & Director
I'm a bass-baritone opera singer, writer, director and theatre-maker, based just outside Doncaster in South Yorkshire. I hope you'll find plenty of information on these pages, but if you can't find what you're looking for, why not send me an email?
Welcome
I'm delighted to be returning to the Gap Festival in Goring & Streatley this June to direct The Marriage of Figaro for which I'll also be providing a new translation.
For further details, and a link to the box office for the three performances, click here.
This follows on from my debut directing a full opera (Così fan Tutte in 2022) for the same festival - more information and some images can be found here. It was a lovely experience with some great colleagues, and two completely sold out performances, so I'm very excited to have the opportunity to build on that success this summer.
It's lovely to be working with many of the same team from Così, including Stephanie Bodsworth (Producer & singing Susanna) and designer Ilka Weiss. Katherine Manley and Tim Nelson return to sing Countess and Count Almaviva, and we're joined by some brilliant colleagues and friends, including Ben Cox who will provide musical direction as well as leading the ensemble from the piano.
Later this summer, I'll be appearing as Dulcamara in Heritage Opera's production of The Elixir of Love by Donizetti - very much forward to revisiting this role for the first time in a while.
If you'd like to hear me performing Kaspar in Der Freischütz for Random Opera, the whole production is available to stream on their website, alongside lots of other varied repertoire.
If you work in the arts and would like further media of my performances, or of my work as a director and writer, please do give me a shout.
